Lexie learned the sit command in a few days and she was only 7 1/2 weeks old. She knows how to sit up, fetch a toy, and ummm....okay, I am bragging. I ran into a guy at a pet store today and he bragged about his puppy that he had riding around in his cart like his child. I admit that it was adorable! But it didn't look too smart to me.
One thing I am realizing about having a dog, is that no one really loves your dog the way you do! It is similar to having a child, even more than I thought. You have to potty train it, feed it on a schedule, discipline it and show it lots of love. You also think that everyone will agree with how cute, smart and just all around amazing your dog is! Just like a child, isn't it? Of course you don't have to worry about paying for college, but you do have to clean up poop from time to time. But not me, my puppy never poops in the house. There I go with the bragging again. Sorry.
I just wish dogs lived longer. It is a sad thought to put so much love, training and dedication into a creature that will not be able to spend your entire lifetime with you. It isn't right, is it? Children usually outlive the parents, its too bad dogs don't do the same.
